That's it. I'm starting. Painful or easy, I'm in until I have a complete rough draft.
What conditions led to me writing today?
Last night I watched Hoof Dreams, a documentary about the journey of these three women and their horses towards Eventing in the Olympics. I haven't watched a feature film that has captured and kept my attention the whole time in years. Usually I'm on my phone or I get up and grab snacks throughout the movie. Not last night. Around 11:30pm, when it came to the end, I turned off my light and fell right asleep. Lilo was curled up next to me.
I like sleeping with Lilo because Hobbes refuses to sleep with me. I toss and turn too much for him. His spot is directly under me, under my bed or on the chair next to my bed. Lilo will try to sleep as close as she can to you, which is problematic when she's in the middle of the bed on top of the blanket. I had to pick a sliver of a side, with an edge of blanket. It was kinda hard to sleep straight.
I had vivid dreams that have since left me.
I woke up at 7am, naturally. I took my meds. I thought about my morning pages, and then I wrote. I scrolled social media afterwards.
Then, I walked both of the dogs on my own. It was a lovely walk. I found a walking stick; it was in the gravel parking lot of the park behind our house. It was a little too polished to have appeared from the forest. Maybe I stumbled upon evidence of an elderly person being abducted. Wow, I watch too many crime shows.
Back at home, my mom and brother were awake. I convinced my mom to continue her running streak by running a mile with her. I took a 3 minute shower.
And with all of that already accomplished, we hopped in the car to drive to breakfast. I met with two friends for brunch, while my mom and brother ate at another table. Then, we went to the next door bookstore. We managed to browse together for about 20 minutes before getting sucked our separate ways. I purchased another copy of Anna Karenina because the cover was beautiful. (I also bought All Creatures Great and Small).
I met back up with my family, and we drove home. I began watching Elyse Myers's latest youtube video. She was vlogging her writing journey. Okay, what the heck. I'm going to go over to my desk and write. I didn't get distracted by the clutter around me. I wrote.
This has been a day full of big deals that I want to remember.
Thanks for reading.
